Original Australian Landscape Paintings Inspired by Light, Atmosphere and Place
I’m a Western Australian landscape artist based in Perth, creating original oil paintings inspired by the shifting light, colour and atmosphere of the natural world.
My work is less about strict realism and more about capturing the feeling of being immersed in a place — morning light through trees, distant rain, quiet gardens, open skies and changing seasons.
Using expressive brushwork and layered colour, I explore movement, depth and atmosphere while allowing forms to soften and dissolve up close.
Painted from Observation, Memory and Atmosphere
A lot of the inspiration for my paintings comes from everyday moments close to home — light moving through trees, changing shadows in the garden, or the calm that settles over a landscape late in the day.
Over time, my work has become increasingly focused on atmosphere and emotional connection rather than detailed representation. I’m more interested in creating paintings that feel immersive and alive with movement and colour.
Each painting develops through experimentation and is a balancing act between recognisable form and expressive mark making.
